I’m not back until July 2nd.  I’m grateful for the awesome time.
I’ve had but I’m also very ready to get back to work.

Vacation and time to relax are well needed and deserved by everyone but, work is underrated!  Hard work honors human beings.
There is no other activity in which humans reach a dimension of purpose and meaning in life as in work.
It could be working toward your fitness goals, working on becoming a better parent, friend or professional goals.  Work and goals invite growth and when we grow we live better.

Having said that, I’m so ready to get back and take my life to another level!!

I’ve been receiving a lot of questions on how to keep your fitness in check while on vacation.  I’ll start by mentioning, it’s not easy, but it’s definitely possible.
I won’t go into all the mind set stuff because hopefully by now all that is obvious.

Below are some tips that have helped me.

  1. Breakfast: Take plain instant oatmeal, all you need is hot water and a spoon you can make this in your hotel room, also add protein powder, stir and you have your protein and complex carbs.
  2. Buy fruit to have with you as snack, also pack enough protein powder in individual baggies so you can make yourself a shake or have some fruit on the fly as a snack
  3. When eating out, follow the same tactics I’ve mentioned in previous messages… order chicken or fish with veggies and rice…..the most important thing is asking it TOTALLY DRY, no sauce, no cheese, no dressing, you can get the dressing on the side if you want to add just a bit yourself.  You’ll find the dish will taste perfectly fine with a ¼ of the sauce they bring on the side. Since you’re on vacation you’ll probably be drinking more alcohol than you would typically. Go for drinks that don’t have added sugar…basically all those mixed cocktails like piña coladas and margaritas have extra sugar you could avoid if you just drink the alcohol on the rocks.
  4. Of course…drink lots of water.
  5. Workout!  All hotels have gyms, or just change it up and go for a run and add some lunges, burpees, push-ups and squats. Don’t beat yourself up, try as best you can.  You will probably have more cheats than you normally would but you’re on vacation…you still gotta live!  Just keep it balanced.

If all your meals are cheats from beginning to end you will have a lot of work once you return.  If you stay focused on your goals and enjoy some cheats, plus don’t miss a workout, you’ll feel great throughout your entire trip.
